A-Track Software and
Hardware
While a trial version of A-Track is freely available from the Downloads page, the software application on its own cannot access the NCE Power Pro Command Station, so that all functions relating to data stored within the Command Station, or which require a physical connection to the model railroad track and your locomotives, are effectively inoperative.
To make A-Track fully functional, you need to connect the PC
which is running the software to the NCE Command Station via a small hardware
unit – the A-Track USB / NCE (or ATUN) Interface. This unit is based on a

The ATUN Interface unit will be available from A-Train Systems for £19.00 (US$30.00), as a package which includes a USB cable and all necessary installation software for the device and the A-Track program.

The MCP2200EV-VCP uses standard software drivers which are already part of the Windows operating system but, before using it with A-Track or any other application program, it is necessary to link the appropriate Windows drivers to the device. This is done by loading a driver information file, based on the generic file supplied by Microchip, to your computer. The required file, MCP2200_A-Track.inf, and instructions on how to use it, can be downloaded from the Download page. Linking the ATUN Interface unit to the PC only has to be done once per computer, and can be performed before or after installation of the A-Track program itself.

Registration and
Activation
Once connected to the NCE Power Pro Command Station through the ATUN Interface unit, all A-Track functions are fully available. However, the trial version of the program supplied will only allow full unrestricted use for a maximum of 30 hours or 30 connections to the Command Station from a single PC. Once either limit is reached, A-Track will no longer connect to the NCE equipment, rendering all functions relating to data stored within the Command Station, or which require a physical connection to the model railroad track and your locomotives, effectively inoperative, although all other program functions will continue to operate indefinitely.
In order to maintain access
to the full range of A-Track functions without restriction, and to remove the
30 hours / 30 uses limitations, you need to register as an authorised user, and
obtain an activation key (code) before the expiry of the evaluation / trial
period. Once registered, A-Track will operate with the ATUN Interface unit when
installed on up to three PCs.

The information required for registration includes whichever first and last names you wish to use (each name must contain a minimum of 3 characters, and a maximum of 20 characters) plus the ATUN Interface unit Serial Number which is displayed by accessing the Register / Activate window, as described in th A-Track User Guide, available from the Download page.
An activation key code to remove the evaluation restrictions will be returned to you within 24 hours.
